What are the benefits of hiring a landscape designer?
A professional landscape designer will help you clarify and distill all your ideas into a cohesive overall vision, guide you through what may seem like an overwhelming number of decisions, and maximize the opportunities of your site. By integrating all the factors to be considered, a landscape designer will create a detailed master landscape plan that will help ensure the success of creating the “garden of your dreams”, and ultimately save you time and money (and heartache!) by avoiding any major mistakes. A landscape designer blends the “art and science” of creating a landscape design, by having both an eye for aesthetic appeal and sound horticultural knowledge.
Developing a strong personal connection with your landscape designer will also ensure your success and and joy in creating your unique and personalized garden. It is therefore important to find a landscape designer who really listens to you and your ideas, needs and goals, and takes the time to get to know you, your personal preferences, interests and family’s lifestyle.
What are the benefits of having a landscape plan created?
Whether you’re planning to install some or all of the landscape design yourself, or need to hire a landscape contractor to install it for you, having a well thought out landscape design can be a key factor in the successful outcome of your landscape project.
Having a detailed landscape design is like having a “map” that visually and clearly conveys the overall look and feel of the landscape you have in mind, and ensures that your landscape contractor can accurately interpret this “map” to create the exact landscape you are expecting.
A master landscape plan also ensures that should you decide to install your landscape in phases over time, that all completed phases remain true to the originally intended design and that the final outcome appears and feels as a cohesive whole.
Can you work with what I have already in my garden?
Your initial on-site consultation is the perfect opportunity for us to discuss any of your garden’s existing plants or features that you would love to keep, or that would be best to have modified/pruned or relocated (if feasible). These discussions are all aimed at finding the best way to reach your ultimate goals.
What areas do you work in?
I primarily work with residents living in Sammamish, Redmond, Issaquah, Bellevue, Mercer Island, Woodinville, Kirkland, Juanita, Woodinville and surrounding areas. All of our design meetings are held on-site at your place of residence.
Do you offer free consultations?
I don’t offer free consultations. After we’ve connected by phone and determined that we would be a good fit for each other and for your project, we can schedule your initial on-site consultation. Even if you don’t decide to proceed beyond this on-site consultation, you will have still gained valuable insights and ideas regarding your future landscaping plans.
How long does the design process take?
This depends on the size and complexity of your landscape project and time of year. The design process includes an initial on-site consultation, a conceptual designs meeting and a final design presentation meeting, and can typically be completed within 4 to 6 weeks. Keep in mind that with spring and summer being the busiest seasons, the design process may take a little longer during this time.
When we’ve decided to hire you, how soon can you start our project?
Typically, once I’ve received your signed agreement and 50% deposit, I can start working on your landscape project within a week by returning to your site to complete the site measurements, analysis and photo-documentation. Just know that it may take a little longer to start your project during the busier spring and summer seasons.
